Happy July 5th

Wow - it's the first Sunday morning of July and I am enjoying my second cup of coffee - Gevallia Breakfast Blend with Organic Half & Half. Life is good except that I still have one of those dull headaches that won't come on strong but it won't go away either. But enough bitching, let's get to the good stuff!

Friday night we went to Pops in the Park. Mom and Garry went along with Robin (from Jax), Rich (my neighbor) and 6 other single women with 4 children. May I say Rich is a lucky guy! Rich went out early (7:15 AM) to put out our tarp and he wasn't quite early enough! I guess with so many folks stay-cationing, you look for cheap entertainment. Anywho, Rich did get a spot that was absolutely awesome for the Fireworks Show. The weather had cooled off so it was pleasant all snuggled on the tarp and we had way tooooo much food and wine. My friend Debra brought home made sangria, Rich fixed guacamole, Colleen made brownies and I had gone to Price's Fried Chicken Coop. Life is Good! (We had 10 adults and 4 children on a 10' X 12' tarp!!!)

Last night, I went to our friend Pete's house for a nice cookout. I had gone to the farmer's market yesterday and went a little overboard. Fresh zucchini, asparagus, heirloom tomatoes and corn on the cob! Pete had two pork loins to grill, we marinated the zuchs and aspergrass in olive oil and balsamic vinegar, roasted potatoes with butter and sliced tomatoes. We ate on the deck - one of the last few evenings where you don't sweat at 9 PM!! I learned (again) how to play gin rummy.

And we had yellow cake with chocolate frosting - it was America's 233rd Birthday by the way (although she doesn't look a day over 150!)

I hope everyone had a pleasant and safe Holiday!

  1. April: Happy day after July 4th. You had a great time. We were sweating down in South Florida. We are still dog sitting for our youngest son who is on a three 3 private chef job on Staniel Cay on Great Exuma island in the Bahamas. Some Bristish rock star rented a private mansion and hired 2 private chefs and a 5 member staff to take care of their every whim.

I ask you....... where did we go WRONG? I begged to go as a maid but as you can see I am still sweating here in Florida. Son will be back in Florida on thursday. His dog will be mighty glad. the dog has been moping and missing his dad even though we took him to the dog park so he could run and play with all the other pups.

I love to play gin rummy by the way. Also Canasta.
