Let's hope that was the last kidney stone ever!!!!

So, I am generally a healthy person (according to my Dr. except for that little weight issue) so yesterday morning was sort of a complete shock to the system.  I woke up as usual, got dressed and took Winston for a walk.  Made my coffee and then got the twinges of an UTI - you know the "hurry, hurry, oh never mind?"  But within the next hour, I was having cramps and back pain.  Cramps that brought tears to my eyes.  Those of you who have known me for awhile may remember that I have a high tolerance for pain so for something to bring tears to my eyes!!!

After checking WebMD, to confirm my suspicions, I drove myself to the Urgent Care center.  While waiting in the lobby and thinking I would pass out, I got to watch the horrors of the Serengeti.  Didn't make me feel better.  Finally got to see the Doctor who said, I think you have a kidney infection or appendicitis? but since we have an urine sample, we shall see.  Told him I hadn't peed in a cup yet although I told the receptionist that I thought I had an UTI.   That was quickly remedied and I have to tell you having the nurse ask if I was on my period because there was a "lot of blood" in my urine, did not make me feel warm and fuzzy.

After the Dr. told me that I wasn't pregnant (not a surprise) and that there was blood in my urine (knew that already) and he suspected that I had a kidney stone, he then wrote my two scripts and wants a CAT scan if my situation worsens.  I thanked him and said I would call my Primary Care for follow up.  Now, I am grateful for the Urgent Care and glad I did not have to go to the Emergency Room, but I did not appreciate the Dr. questioning my being allergic to Naproxen and being on a Vitamin D supplement.   He said I should to talk to an Allergist about my supposed allergy and then prescribed that I take 2 Alleve daily (contains Naproxen!)

May I say that the pain of passing a kidney stone was excruciating and I am glad that as an overachiever, I seemed to take care of the whole process in three hours.  I was exhausted!

And this was after waking up Friday morning and looking like I had had a bad collagen session!!  My upper lip was swollen for goodness knows why and did not go down for more than 24 hours!
